My professional career began working in bars and restaurants. Looking back, these 5 years were pivotal to my development in business. It’s fascinating how adaptive and patient you learn to become when serving food and beverages to all types of people. After a couple of life-altering events, I decided it was time to take the leap into Real Estate in 2014.
I had always been very interested in real estate, architecture, and how cities evolve and grow with development. I was given a fantastic opportunity to team up with one of Greater Vancouver’s best agents, and I knew I would do everything I could to take advantage of that opportunity. The first year was an eye-opening struggle, but I learned so much about who I am and how persistent I could be. I helped grow the business from $30 Million in sales in 2014 to over $525Million in sales in the last 5 years (2016-2020), and am now a Partner in the Garbutt + Dumas Real Estate Team which is in the top 1% of Real Estate Teams in Greater Vancouver. Real Estate, both selling and investing in it, is a huge passion of mine!
Outside of real estate I love to keep active. Fitness has become extremely important in my life. Activities vary through the seasons but include: running, working out, golf, hiking, snowboarding. I have fallen in love with the podcast platform and now host 3 podcasts: The Denny Dumas Podcast, The Garbutt + Dumas Real Estate Podcast, and The Seahawks Social Podcast. I love sharing my experiences both personally and professionally and that has been a really big motivator of mine over the past few years. I am constantly looking to grow and improve, and being a support for the growth of others has been very rewarding.
Adversity is the key to my motivation and what drives my work ethic. I’ve had some ups and downs in sports, business, and my personal life but I have found a way to just use those experiences to learn and continue to grow. I have some life philosophies that I’m super passionate about and that are the cornerstones of my mindset.
