How I ended up here.
Growing up in a family of 6 kids has its advantages! I was groomed into the ultra competitive person that I am today from a very young age. I remember daily sporting competitions with my two older brothers, and being the second youngest, I had to be tougher than them to compete. Athletics were my passion through my teenage years, and this is where I developed my work ethic and mental toughness. These two characteristics are the reason I am where I am today.
Ambition is what drives me. Challenging myself to improve both personally and professionally on a daily basis has become my obsession. I found this in myself at a young age. Always wanting to compete against older, stronger, faster athletes. It was always a dream of mine to play University basketball in the U.S. and I received a scholarship to a division 2 University out of highschool.
My professional career began working in bars and restaurants. Looking back, these 5 years were pivotal to my development in business. It’s fascinating how adaptive and patient you learn to become when serving food and beverages to all types of people. After a couple life altering events, I decided it was time to take the leap into Real Estate in 2014. I was given a fantastic opportunity to team up with one of Greater Vancouver’s best agents, and I knew I would do everything I could to take advantage of that opportunity. The first year was an eye opening struggle, but I learned so much about who I am and how persistent I could be. I helped grow the business from $30Million in sales in 2014 to about $400Million in sales over the past 4 years, and am now a Partner in the Garbutt + Dumas Real Estate Team which is in the top 1% of Real Estate Teams in Greater Vancouver. Real Estate, both selling and investing in it, is a huge passion of mine!
Outside of real estate I love to keep active. Fitness has become massively important in my life. Activities vary through the seasons but include: running, working out, golf, hiking, snowboarding. I am the host of the “Zero to Here” podcast which has become a fantastic outlet for me to share the experiences I’ve had as well as those of my guests. I am super fortunate to have a fantastic support system of close family and friends.
Adversity is the key to my motivation and what drives my work ethic. I’ve had some ups and downs in sports, business and my personal life but I have found a way to just use it as fuel for the fire. With every failure I grow stronger and more motivated. I have some life philosophies that I’m super passionate about and that are the corner stones of my mindset.
“I absolutely hate losing and failures, but I love what they do to me”
